On behalf of POSTCOMER and the University Centre of Excellence IMSErt – Know Team, we are pleased to invite you to submit an abstract for the international conference "Un/Doing Academia in Time of Polycrisis" at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, Poland, next springtime 2025.

Submission link: https://lnkd.in/dmnqkdEH

We particularly welcome scholars, researchers, and faculty members who engage in and not only to the following questions:
- What is (or should be) the role of academia in a time of polycrisis?
- Does distance and/or closeness to the field of research reduce or stimulate acts of solidarity, and/or does it reinforce epistemic violence?
- How do scholars produce knowledge in times of dramatic political changes, genocidal violence, and unsettling ideological certainties?
- Does academic solidarity with war-torn countries reinforce violence by introducing new power hierarchies upon marginalised, racialised, and minoritised communities? In contrast, does the lack of proper engagement of academia with wars, human rights violations, and genocide reveal academic complicity in a time of poly-crisis?
- Do scholars who engage with “whom they produce knowledge for”, and with the “spaces and “places” they carry out research in, contribute to worsening the relations between academia and civil society?
